Ca. 1968 Dopera Original Tenor Banjo
As noted in the description of my plectrum banjo, Dopera Original banjos were made in four variations: 5-string, tenor, plectrum and 6-string “banjitars”. This tenor follows the same basic template as all the others, but it has a couple of notable features. It is the only Dopera banjo I have seen with gold-plated hardware, and the only one whose resonator was engraved prior to anodizing (note that my plectrum’s resonator was engraved after anodizing, revealing the white aluminum underneath). The headstock is also personalized, a tradition that goes back as far as the first National instruments. The serial number is five away from my plectrum’s.
